Chapitre du Mexique
Playa del Carmen, September 2019.
For two wonderful days, members and international guests attended Chapitre du Mexique at the beautiful Grand Velas Hotel located in Playa del Carmen, the main touristic destination in Mexico, having local Bailli Attila Gombos and his board as hosts. The Chaine spirit was complemented by sand, beaches and good friends that came from different parts of the country and the U.S.
The program started with dinner and champagne at the Cirque du Soleil Joyá, the only resident show located in Latin America. The tropical and luxurious complex received a delegation of 30 people where they had an original dinner combining local ingredients in a unique presentation, consistent with the setting and theme of the show.
The Show´s band performed traditional music from all Latin America including Son Jarocho from Veracruz, Ballenato and Cumbia from Colombia and Bossa Nova from Brazil. Once dinner was finished, the Joyá show started with acrobats, comedians and jugglers entertaining the audience for over an hour with a show themed on evolution, family and legacy
The next day, the attendees enjoyed the sun and sand and at dawn, special guest Bailli Delegué from United States, Mr. Harold “Hal” Small, along with Bailli Delegué from Mexico Thierry Blouet and his Board inthronized 24 new members from 5 Local Bailliages, as well as Chaine insignias of Officier Grand Commandeur for 50 uninterrupted service to Hans Munch and Ulrich Schwartz; also Commandeur for 20 years to Giancarlo Frigerio and Jaime Valenzuela.
A cocktail followed and a gala dinner at Piaf Restaurant located in Grand Velas Hotel where 80 members and new members celebrated in Chaine fashion with a 7 course dinner that included Foie Gras, blue shrimp, escargots, pork belly and sheep paired with champagne and Mexican wines from Ensenada and Parras Valley, in an unique montage that included dried ice, complementing the atmosphere in a celebration that went late into the night. Dinner was served by Corporate Chef Michel Mustiere, Executive Chef Mario López and Chefs Nahum Velasco, Mario Soto, Ricardo de la Vega, Laura Avalos, Onam Méndez y Vivien Lallement.
New relationships were created, and Bailli Delegué Thierry Blouet mentioned that “The event was spectacular and a big thanks to the Playa del Carmen Bailliage, they took a great responsibility and pulled it off, we had a dream dinner and enthronements, VIVE LA CHAINE!”
